Custom Cabinet Designer – Germantown, WI

Germantown Showroom & Office location: W189N11100 Kleinmann Dr #104, Germantown, WI 53022

Job Overview: Valley Cabinet is seeking an experienced Custom Cabinet Designer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong attention to detail and a passion for exceeding customer’s expectations. As a Designer, you are responsible for working alongside customers in our showroom on residential cabinetry design, layout, color coordination, functionality, and cost estimating to understand their vision and budget and then making it a reality.

Projects are residential and custom and will vary in scope from a single room remodel, additions, new builds, to entire house remodels.

Hours: 38—45 hours per week. Monday—Thursday 8:00am—5:00pm & Friday 8:00am—1:00pm

Willing to travel to the main showroom (De Pere, WI) a couple times per week during the training process

Responsibilities:

  • Knowledgeable on all products, materials, and services to provide the most accurate information, and be able to suggest other desirable materials
  • Work collaboratively with customers to identify and meet project requirements by determining practical and aesthetic goals related to design, material and product choices, specifications and estimated budget
  • Assist walk-in customers, builders, and homeowners as needed
  • Interact with Project Managers and Production Staff to develop and coordinate projects
  • Utilize Cabinet Vision software to create drawings for customers
  • Stay current with industry trends and innovations.

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Knowledge of cabinet design and construction methods

Project Estimator

Job Overview: Valley Cabinet is seeking a self- driven individual to join our team! The ideal candidate would have a strong attention to detail and the ability to retain product and job knowledge. The Project Estimator is responsible for estimating the cost of material and labor required to build and install custom cabinetry based on provided drawings and project information.

About Us: A well-established family owned multi-product Cabinet and Door manufacturer. Within our state-of-the-art manufacturing facility, selected hardwoods from around the country are transformed into quality custom cabinetry, finish or unfinished cabinet doors and drawers boxes; moulding and millwork.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Understanding Valley Cabinet products and offerings
  • Collaborating with other Project Estimators and internal personnel to problem solve the best and most accurate way to estimate a project
  • Reading and understanding cabinet and room drawings provided by designers and project managers
  • Preparing a complete and accurate sales estimate for customer/builders using the specifications from the design layout, blueprints, and worksheets
  • Utilizing Microsoft Excel to type and calculate estimate totals
  • Utilizing Microsoft Excel to obtain job numbers and record project details

OFFICE: Sales / Project Manager

Job Overview:

Valley Cabinet is seeking an individual to serve as our full-time Sales/Project Manager to support job site cabinetry activities serving our customers in the Northeast WI Area. This individual will report to our main office, in De Pere, WI on a daily basis. You will need to be able to work in a team environment and create strong relationships with home builders, contractors, sub-contractors, cabinet designers, engineering staff, and customers in new home and remodel construction.

Responsibilities:

  • Service and maintain existing builder & customer accounts
  • Complete detailed field measuring
  • Manage job site needs for subcontractors; ie layouts, framing, locations for electrical and plumbing fixtures, etc.
  • Meet with customers onsite to discuss remodels and determine layouts
  • Work with cabinetry software (Cabinet Vision) to prepare final papers for manufacturing
  • Work Trade and/or Home Shows
  • Extensive travel with flexible work schedule and the possibility of working occasionally on evenings and weekends
  • Additional duties as assigned

Cabinet Layout Drafter

Job description

We are a seeking a qualified Cabinet Layout Drafter to create the shop drawings for production. Potential candidates should be able to demonstrate a strong knowledge and understanding of the means and methods of cabinet construction coupled with strong computer and interpersonal skills.

The main responsibly for the position will be to use Cabinet Vision to prepare drawings and information for our shop to be able to manufacture the customer’s project

(ONSITE)

Work hours vary on workload:

  • Monday—Thursday: 5:30am—3:30pm
  • Friday: 5:30am—1:30pm

Responsibilities

  • Learn Valley Cabinet construction
  • Produce workable layouts and 3Ds to our specification in a timely fashion
  • Develop cut sheets and shop papers from job site layouts, design information, and customer selections
  • Work directly with shop floor personnel on issues and manufacturing concerns, ensuring continuous production and process improvements
  • Work closely with sales, design, and production staff
  • Ensure designs meet manufacturing and customer needs
  • Perform other assigned tasks and requirements as assigned

Qualifications

  • Basic knowledge of custom woodwork design construction
  • Cabinet Vision or other related software experience, is preferred
  • Highly skilled in computers and associated software, including Microsoft Office

VCD Customer Service Representative

Job Overview: Valley Custom Door is seeking a talented, highly motivated Customer Service Representative to join our team! We are looking for an individual who can confidently communicate technical product support.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Gain knowledge of products and manufacturing process
  • Determine correct product based off customer’s custom order requests
  • Provide technical product information and pricing to customer
  • Process orders from quote through to shipping and invoicing
  • Communicate with customers via phone and email
  • Build and maintain customer relationships
  • Respond to customer requests in a timely manner
  • Provide solutions by answering and discussing alternate product options
  • Resolve product or service problems by clarifying the customer’s complaint; determining the cause of the problem; selecting and explaining the best solution to solve the problem; expediting correction or adjustment; following up to ensure resolution

Custom Department Cabinet Builder

Responsibilities:

  • Review cabinet drawings
  • Plan out the sequence of cutting or shaping to be performed
  • Gather and assemble necessary cabinet parts by following paperwork specifications
  • Set up and operate machines, including power saws, shapers to cut and machine parts, as needed
  • Verify dimensions and check quality of parts and fit pieces to ensure adherence to specifications of cabinet during assembly process
  • Assemble cabinets according to specifications
  • On the face frame, place glue in dado grooves. Place sides, top and bottom pieces into the dado.
  • Reinforce joints with nails
  • Attach installation strips or toe kicks
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications: 

  • Knowledge of materials, production processes, and quality control techniques
  • Must have good math skills
  • Able to read various measurements on paperwork and tape measure
  • Must be able to operator tools that include: pneumatic fasteners, hand clamps, table saw, router, drill, planer, and sander
  • Operate machinery safely by using guards to prevent accidents
  • Attention to detail

Door Prep / Quality Check (1st shift)

Responsibilities:

  • Organize and complete work according to the work schedule
  • Prepare unfinished wood cabinet door orders for the Finishing process
  • Verify dimensions and check the quality to ensure adherence to specifications and work order
  • Putty, trim, sand, or scrape surfaces of product as needed
  • Ensure door jobs are complete including; doors, moldings, veneers, plywoods, and solid stock
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of materials, methods, and tools involved in the construction of cabinet doors
  • Must have good math skills and be able to read various measurements on paperwork and tape measure
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Organized

 

Door Assembler (2nd shift)

  • Assemble and fit wood frame parts and panel pieces to form cabinet doors and drawer fronts
  • Use table saws and other various woodworking machinery
  • $2.00 / hour shift premium for 2nd shift positions
  • Organize and complete work according to the work schedule
  • Assemble and fit wood frame parts and panel pieces to form cabinet doors and drawer fronts.
  • Verify dimensions and check the quality to ensure adherence to specifications and work order
  • Putty, trim, sand, or scrape surfaces of product as needed
  • Ensure door jobs are complete including; doors, moldings, veneers, plywood’s, and solid stock
  • Use of table saws and other various woodworking machinery.
  • The ability to read and interpret work orders
  • Utilize a tape measure to read measurements accurately and use fundamental math skills
  • Other duties as assigned

Cabinet Installer (1st Shift)

Responsibilities:

  • Read and interpret shop drawings and paperwork
  • Load and unload trucks
  • Travel to job sites and install various size cabinetry fixtures, moldings, and hardware using carpentry tools and wood working machines.
  • Measure and mark for product installation
  • Trim, cut, fill, seal, and level during installation
  • Perform various hanging, adjusting, and fastening tasks to complete installation work.
  • Carrying and raise cabinets and materials, overhead or floor level work.
  • Safely operate various pieces of equipment and tools
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Attention to detail and quality minded
  • Must be able to positively interact with management, production personnel, and customers
  • Previous cabinet building and/or installation experience
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Meet company driver qualifications and standards
  • Physical strength and the capacity to bear substantial weights are necessary for loading and unloading

Custom Finishing Team (2nd Shift)    Starting Pay $17.89/hr

We are looking for a hard-working individual to be a part of our Finishing Department.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Use a spray gun to apply stain, sealer, or topcoat to cabinet and door products
  • Spray and wipe finishing stain onto and into wood grain
  • Produce a high-quality paint finish on a variety of materials
  • Use sandpaper and other instruments to sand rough spots and to rub stain into the grain
  • Maintain quality standards on all products
  • Effectively manage time to ensure on-time delivery of every project
  • Clean and maintain spray gun and equipment
  • All other duties as assigned

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Experience in manufacturing environment is preferred
  • Experience with finishing materials and spray equipment preferred
  • Ability to see details at close range (within a few feet of the observer)
  • Ability to match or detect differences between colors. This includes shades, colors, and brightness
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Stand in an upright position for extended periods of time
  • Ability to grasp and manipulate trigger on spray gun
  • Pick up objects by hand and/or raise and lower objects from one level to another regularly of materials weighing greater than five pounds

Cabinet Face Frame Assembly: (1st shift)

Responsibilities:

  • Organize and complete work according to the work schedule.
  • Read numbers and measurements on production paperwork to determine cut sizes and pieces.
  • Set up and operate power fed straight line rip.  Pull boards from cart, load onto machine, fed board through machine and retrieve cut boards on the other end.
  • Set up and operator cut off saw to size wood components for rails and stiles.   Pull face frame stocked parts from cart, place on table, fed under guard, measure, hold wood securely, operate foot pedal to active saw.
  • Drill pocket holes into frame parts with face driller, foot pedal operated.
  • Lay out face frame pieces on assembly rack. Glue, clamp, and screw connecting frame parts following cabinet construction drawing/paperwork.
  • Sand face frame with Edge Sander. Pick up face frame from cart, lay on sanding table and feed frame into the sanding belt.  Use Pneumatic sander to complete the sanding of the face frame profile.
  • Using a compressed air hose, clean off face frames when sanding.
  • Lift and place the completed faces on cart for the next work station.
  • Housekeeping:  sweep and pick up debris over, around and under machines and work areas.
  • Other duties as assigned.
